Review: Are You Ready for Mink Lashes? Get Ready for Luz Lashes!

I am a big viewer of the YouTube community and noticed that a new and upcoming trend for 2013 seemed to be using mink eyelashes as opposed to other types of falsies. It took me awhile to come around and I wanted to do a bit of research to make sure that they were safe. After browsing around the internet, I came across Luz Lashes and was impressed by the professional state of the website and their marketing efforts as a luxury brand. The creator of Luz Lashes is an international model, fashion personality, designer and entrepreneur named Anita Rincón. We all know that models have been exposed to the best of the best and therefore have an inside on what makes us women stand out in terms of beauty.

The decision to buy these lashes really came down to their creation. The eyes are one of our most sensitive places on our bodies and I am all for splurging to make sure that my eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara and lashes are of top quality.  Once I read that they were handmade and cruelty free, that was all I needed to go forward and try out this brand. After making the order, I promptly received my Luz Lashes in the mail and was so excited to see the packaging and the lashes! I ordered the ‘Ooh-La-Lashes,’ which were natural looking but gives a voluminous look. The great thing about buying mink lashes is that they are reusable for up to 25 times with proper maintenance.

By coincidence, I had a ladies night out event to attend so it was the perfect time to try out the lashes to complete my glam look. Trust me, you will not be disappointed in this brand! I hurried to make another purchase once I finished using the first pair a number of times. This would be a great gift for your female friends, especially with the holiday’s right around the corner.

FOODIE ALERT: PUMPKIN COOKIES RECIPE

The first time I tasted a pumpkin cookie was around two or so months ago. I had never tasted anything pumpkin flavored before, but was so pleased at these cookies. Let me say, that it was a delicious experience that I knew would be a perfect holiday snack for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In fact, you could even package these babies up in cute decorative sandwich bags and give them to friends, co-workers and family. They will thank you. Trust me on this one.

RECIPE

You will need:
  •  2 and a half cups of All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Cup of Pumpkin Puree ( I used an entire regular size can which is a little bit over a cup)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup of White Sugar
  • 2 tsp of Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1 stick of Butter, softened
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp of Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp of Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp of Salt
For the Glaze:
  • 2 Tbsp of unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups of Powdered Sugar
  • 3 or 4 Tbsp of Milk
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice, set aside.

In the bowl of a standing mixer,  cream together both kinds of sugar and butter. Add the egg, pumpkin puree and vanilla and make sure they are well blended.

Add the dry ingredients and mix until they are all incorporated.

Using a small ice cream scoop, form your cookies and place them a couple inches apart from each other. Flatten the dough balls lightly with your fingers (I dipped my fingers in water so they wouldn't stick to the cookie).

Bake the cookies for 12 to 16 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Allow them to cool completely!

To make the glaze, add the butter to a small skillet and cook it on very low heat for about 4 to 5 minutes or until it turns a golden brown color.

Pour the brown butter into a bowl make sure to leave the solids behind. Add the powder sugar and vanilla and adding a little milk at a time mix the mixture together until it’s the perfect glaze consistency.

Drizzle the glaze over the cookies and allow it to set slightly.
